The story behind Stay Put Umbrellas began in 2000

Introduction from our Founder and Owner, James Medlock

Since I was a child living in my native Arizona, and later around the world, wind has played an integral part of my life.  I spent a year serving our country in Vietnam then later enjoyed over fifty years in aviation including flying as Captain and simulator-line check airman for an airline that became part of the world's largest airline. I also served as a simulator flight instructor for the world’s largest passenger airplane manufacture.

My wife and I returned to the Phoenix area to enjoy the warm weather but were immediately reminded of the nuisance of frequent wind.  Orographic lift up the slopes of the surrounding mountains serves as a wind generator for the Phoenix Valley, as it does in any area with similar terrain features.  During the day as the temperature increases, the wind velocity increases.  The windy conditions often blew my umbrellas over and broke them.  I searched hardware stores and the internet for a solution but found nothing.

Deciding to "fix" the problem myself, I designed a "Secure Anchored Base" for center mount umbrellas which provided protection for umbrellas.  After two years working with customers from all over the Phoenix Valley, I added cantilever umbrella products that are mounted onto concrete, pool decking, or below travertine, pavers, onto sand and crushed rock surface, wooden decks and artificial turf, these anchors assure your umbrellas will stay put!

Thanks for letting me share our story with you.  Please let us help you create your personal outdoor patio shade environment, and display our nations flag.
